Portrait of Sandrine, ski instructor in Megève
YOUR INSTRUCTOR IN MEGÈVE

Sandrine, an experienced children’s ski instructor.

Sandrine has 37 years of experience, including 18 years at ESF Megève. She knows the area well and pays particular attention to how children learn.

Make the most of her local knowledge when planning your stay in Megève. Organisation, equipment hire and outings: feel free to ask her advice.

Her approach is to take time to get to know you, warm up, revisit the basics and then discover new techniques on suitable slopes. The aim is to progress confidently while enjoying skiing.

After five or six days of lessons, a skills assessment recognises your child’s progress, with a medal suited to their level.

A few questions before you ski.

At what age can my child start skiing?

Sandrine generally recommends starting around age 4 or 5. Before age 4, discovering the snow and building confidence are already valuable steps. Talk to her about a suitable option for your child.

Can my child manage a whole morning or a full day?

It depends on their age and stamina. Sandrine alternates skiing, games and enjoyable breaks to respect each child’s pace.

Will my child have a lesson on their own?

Lessons are private: your child can ski alone with Sandrine or share a lesson with children of a similar age and ability, up to five people. For complete beginners, she recommends individual lessons so she can give them her full attention.

Is there a medal at the end of the week?

Yes. After five or six days of lessons, a skills assessment recognises your child’s progress, with a medal suited to their level.

What size skis should we hire?

Choose equipment suited to your child’s size and ability, with skis generally shorter than chin height. Have the hire shop confirm ski length and binding settings before the lesson.

What protective equipment is recommended?

Sandrine strongly recommends a helmet. Ask her about the precise requirements before the first lesson. A back protector can also be worn.

What happens in bad weather?

Weather alone does not automatically cancel a lesson: Sandrine runs lessons when she can offer the activity. She adapts the programme to the conditions and explains the arrangements to you.

Do we need insurance?

Check your cover for piste rescue and the consequences of injury, as well as your lift-pass refund conditions. Your insurer or the lift company can explain the available cover.

Which lift pass should we buy?

Buy your lift pass before the lesson, either on site or online. The right pass depends on age, ability and the area: ask Sandrine before buying. Check current prices and terms on Megève’s official lift-pass website.

Where do lessons take place?

At La Caboche, Mont d’Arbois or Rochebrune. Sandrine confirms the area and meeting point according to ability and lesson arrangements.
